Inspired by developments in contemporary American crafts when she lived in New York in the late 1970s, she began her exploration of the relationship between materials and forming techniques and the concept of the basket as both structure and space.","physicalDescription":"The small step woven into the base allows what would otherwise be an upright rectangular form to sit at an angle. The direction of the weave is such that it appears square-on when the basket is placed correctly. The rhomboid mouth runs slantwise across the upper panel. The position of its lower further corner corresponds to the midpoint of the two-stranded cable that runs around the middle of the basket and cuts across the bottom of the upper panel.
