Leather girdle and suspending strap mounted in silver and brass. The sword has a long, straight, two-edged blade; the hilt is without guards. The socket and lobed pommel are of silver with repoussé patterns of foliate scrollwork. The pommel is ornamented with a coral-bead set in a ring of silver, and the socket is provided with a lobed brass 'tongue' repoussé with a Tamdin-head, to overlap the scabbard. Behind the pommel is an eye to which is attached a plaited streamer of red, blue and green silk fabrics. The ornate scabbard is mounted at either end with encasements of repoussé silver patterned with foliate scrollwork, which enclose on their fronts long brass panels similarly ornamented. The intervening space is covered with dark-green shagreen-like leather, bound with three bands of repoussé silver set with coral and turquoise.
