The elaborate handle is formed of feather-tipped Dorje resting on the triple crown of the Dharmapala Hayagriva. He has three faces, one mild with 'Buddha curls', one moustached and biting his lips, one demonic with protruding tongue. Each has the third eye and a surmounting figure on the crown, which appears to be that of the great Doctor and Reformer Atisha (d. 1055 AD). The grip is a double Dorje and the socket for the blade is a Makara-head. The blade has three edges. Serpents issue from the Makara's mouth down the side of one side of the blade.
