Bronze, cast by the cire perdue process. \r\n\r\nThe god is shown standing, and is clad and bejewelled in the manner of a Bodhisattva. He has eleven heads and eight hands. His normal pair of hands shew the 'prayer' pose (<i>nam mudra)</i>, while the two hanging down display the 'bestowing' pose (<i>varada mudra)</i>. Of the remaining four hands, one grasps a bead-like object, while the other three lack the symbols that they probably once held. The torana represents a trellis of lotuses and lotus foliage, surmounted by a Garuda. The figure is fastened by dowels to a terraced and polygonal base, supported by six short foliated feet.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":"Register notes: Probably of Chinese manufacture."}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bronze","id":"AAT10957"}],"techniques":[{"text":"casting","id":"AAT53104"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Bronze, cast by the cire perdue process","categories":[{"text":"Religion","id":"THES48900"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"},{"text":"Buddhism","id":"THES48984"},{"text":"Bronze","id":"THES49033"},{"text":"Figures","id":"THES274372"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2021MU7856"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES365953"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Figure","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Tibet","id":"x29910"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"Register notes: Chamdo, Khams Province (East Tibet).
