The figure belongs to a corresponding Amulet-box (IM.19-1929). It represents an Abbot of the Red-cap Order of Lamas, possibly the head of one of the four Tantric Colleges at Tashi Lhunpo. He sits on a lotus with fingers directed to the ground. The naturally arranged robes are richly incised with vertical stripes of scrolling lotus-stems, and the under-robe crossed over the breast is inlaid with five pieces of copper. On the head is the long-tailed Red Abbot's cap. The beardless face is gilt. An inscription is inscribed on the back of the base in Tibetan characters.
