Shiva holds a damaru in his upper hand and a flame rises from his upper left, the two other arms are in dance poses. He stands on his right leg resting on a crawling dwarf, representing ignorance, with his left raised and bent across him at thigh level. The goddess Ganga rests in his flowing hair and a snake subdued by Shiva wraps around one arm. The lotus base is separately cast but neatly and permanently joined to the figures. The separately cast arch fits into slots at the back of the base; it is slimmer than most such arches and has a pair of \"baroque\" hooked curves near its base, which look like rather late details although the object, which has been separated from its original record, is presumed to have been accessioned in the late 19th or early 20th century.
