The surface is heavily decorated with repousse, chasing and engraving work showing the Birth of the Buddha. The cylinder contains a hand painted scroll with thanks and good wishes to the days and a white silk grosgrain ribbon. The cyclinder is supported by crossed legs screwed into a bevelled stand.\n\nOne side is inscribed with a dedication message: \"Presented to Major and Mrs. M.S.D.
