The figure wears three garments, the innermost of plain black cotton reaching to the waist, then a long sleeveless black silk coat, reaching to below the knees and open down the front, and a shorter black cotton overcoat (<i>hanten</i>), also open down the front, with long, wide sleeves. The two outer garments have geometrical patterns, reserved in white; Chinese lettering on the lapels of both.
