Lakshmi is sombrely clad, in orange bodice and skirt with a reddish-brown <i>odhni</i> over her head. The pair are covered by a <i>chhati</i> (umbrella) and two white birds fly past. The background is in the typical slate blue used by the Mandi painters, and the somewhat coarse feature of the two main figures are also characteristic of the Mandi style. The two supporting female figures show European influence, but otherwise the painting is in the mainstream of the Mandi style.
