This is the name of the glasshouse of the Miotti, an ancient Muranese family of glassmakers. In the 18th century this glasshouse specialised in enamelled opaque white glass. Exactly the same type of decoration to be seen here can be found on an ‘oriental-style’ perfume sprinkler that was clearly made for the market in the Near East. The similarity suggests that the same might be true for this dish.","physicalDescription":"Saucer of opaque-white glass with enamelled decoration featuring a prrot in the centre and a floral border.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Miotti glasshouse","id":"A1217"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Glass","id":"AAT10797"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Opaque white glass, enamelled","categories":[{"text":"ELISE","id":"THES48961"},{"text":"Glass","id":"THES48946"},{"text":"Eating","id":"THES48963"},{"text":"Food vessels & Tableware","id":"THES48952"}],"styles":[{"text":"EUROPE","id":"AAT20656"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2006AV7317","2017JX2879"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"131","id":"THES49882"},"free":"","case":"20","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Dish","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Venice","id":"x29237"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1730","earliest":"1725-01-01","latest":"1734-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"17.0","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"conversion size only","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Inscribed 'Al Giesù Murano'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"At the Sign of Jesus","transliteration":"the name of the glasshouse of the Miotti, an ancient Muranese family of glassmakers.
