The candelabra are said to have come from the Church of S. Tommaso in Milan, but are related to three pairs of candelabra in Rome by Orazio Censore (d. 1622): one in S. Trinità dei Pellegrini and two in S. The Museum's 1872 'List of Reproductions' makes special mention of the 'richly decorated' garlands of fruit and flowers and the three lion feet on this candelabrum. Electrotyping replicated the decoration more accurately than would a plaster copy.
