While her historical existence is debated, chronicles of the 12th-century Genpei War describe her commanding troops and highlight her skill in archery, sword fighting and horse riding. Here, Tomoe is shown preparing to behead her opponent Musashi Saburōemon Arikuni. Prints of famous warriors became increasingly popular in the early 19th century. \r\n\r\nKatsukawa Shuntei (1770–1820)\r\nEdo (Tokyo)\r\nWoodblock print\r\nMuseum no E.12602-1886","date":{"text":"07/2023-08/2025","earliest":"2023-07-01","latest":"2025-08-31"}}],"partNumbers":["E.12602-1886"],"accessionNumberNum":"12602","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":1886,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-09-03","recordCreationDate":"2009-06-25","availableToBook":false}}
