This design was made for the pantomime, Robinson Crusoe, at the London Palladium, 19 December 1967. The production was directed by Albert J. Knight. Arthur Askey played Mrs Martha Crusoe.\n\nHistorical significance: An example of pantomime costume design of the second half of the 20th century and of the work of a designer who specialised in pantomime and variety design. It is also an example of a design for a pantomime dame.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Design by Cynthia Tingey for Mrs Martha Crusoe in Robinson Crusoe, London Palladium, 1967","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"Unique","id":"THES48864"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"Costume","id":"AAT209261"},{"text":"Pantomime","id":"x33686"},{"text":"drag","id":"x33812"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":["Robinson Crusoe"],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["S.146-1999"],"accessionNumberNum":"146","accessionNumberPrefix":"S","accessionYear":1999,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-05-08","recordCreationDate":"2000-07-06","availableToBook":true}}
