This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.\nThere is nothing in the V&A archives to explain how Rev Hobson came by this group of album pages.  Research suggests that this group may be part of a set with others in the V&A (805 to 903-1896 and D.1947 to D.2017-1900) which may have been taken from the Yuanming Yuan (Summer Palace) when it was plundered and destyed by British and French troops in 1860.
