Registered file 1191/4456M On the registered paper this painting has been given the following description: Terrace scene by night, candle-light effect: Prince Mirza Salim (Afterwards the Mughal Emp. Jahangir, 1605:1627) represented reclining under a canopy, with four female attendants in waiting. Scene evidently laid at Lahore - the River Ravi is conspicuous in the background' Mogul work; about 1580. A subsequent annotation in the register identifies the prince  as Murad Bakhsh and the date as 1650. The reattribution to the 18th century is likely to have been made in the 1990s. \r\n\r\nPurchased from Messrs luzac & Co., 46 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, WC.
