The bisque parts were produced by Royal Doulton with the facial features hand painted with the bodies and clothing designed and made by the House of Nisbet.","historicalContext":"In a statement in the leaflets:-\r\n     In a splendid renaissance of the Victoria tradtion of soft bodied dolls with china heads and hands, Royal Doulton and House of Nisbet have created \"Heirloom Dolls\".  This growing collection of dolls is the fruit of a unique partnership formed towards the end of 1980.\r\n\r\nA number of leading doll authorities were brought into to advise on these dolls, including Faith Eaton, Miss Lines (of Hamleys), Dorothy and Evelyn Jane Coleman and Caroline Goodfellow.\r\nSeveral meetings were held in Stoke-on-Trent and the launch in 1982 was at the Savoy Hotel in London.  \r\n\r\nThe dolls although well produced were not successful as they fell between the gift market and the doll market.  Production stopped in 1985.","briefDescription":"Bisque and calico doll, 'Firstborn', undressed; made by Royal Doulton/Nisbet, 1982","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"The Ultimate Doll Book, Caroline Goodfellow, Dorling Kindersley, 1993"}],"production":"Royal Doulton Tableware Ltd\n\nReason For Production: retail","productionType":{"text":"mass produced","id":"THES48863"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["B.149-2000"],"accessionNumberNum":"149","accessionNumberPrefix":"B","accessionYear":2000,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"D N 20","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-04-08","recordCreationDate":"2000-05-08","availableToBook":false}}
