Coan was a London aluminium foundry, based in Clerkenwell in the first half of the 20th century.  During the First World War, it manufactured aluminium casting for the War Department supplying the airforce and navy.","physicalDescription":"Dish, aluminium, rectangular with two handles.  The rim and handles decorated with elaborately moulded scrolls and leaves in mock rococo style.  The sides dip in a deep convoluted curve towards the base.  The base is decorated with a portrait of the Prince of Wales in naval uniform, smoking a cigarette.  On the sides there are four medallions, two on each side, enclosing scenes showing the Prince playing polo, golf, tennis and show jumping.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Robert W.
