Spratt invented a biscuit shaped like a bone and made of wheat, vegetables including beetroot and beef blood. \n\nThe scottie dog brand image was invented for the firm by the graphic designer, Max Field Bush in 1936. The technique of using letter forms to create the shape of an object is known as a calligram and Bush designed similar logos for the firm's cat food, bird food and fish supplements.\n\nIn order to qualify for a free Spatt's dog badge, pet owners were asked to collect 32 `Trade Mark Symbols' from either Spratt's Bonio, Weetmeet Nos. 1&2.
