Travelling chests for clothes, linen or valuables were often treated in this way. It is oblong in shape with attached top square lock and twisted loop handle. The strengthening bands and three hasps ending in shells. The cover is further strenghtened by bands of openwork tracery, the front one enriched with six projecting turrets. At either end of the coffer is a handle. The leather is incised with shields amid vine scrolls.
