In 1902 Arthur Gaskin was appointed head of Birmingham's Vittoria Street  School for Silversmiths and Jewellers, a post he held until 1924. He was also an illustrator, painter, teacher and designer of jewellery and enamelwork. Georgie was responsible for the design of the jewellery which was made by the couple. \r\n\nArthur and Georgie Gaskin were members of the Birmingham Group of Artist- Craftsmen, which sought to apply the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement across  the decorative arts. Like many of the group, the Gaskins studied at the Birmingham School of  Art under Edward R.
