The rail (8mm thick) has shaped ends and is pierced with two semi-circles flanking a central 'keyhole' shape. \r\n\r\nConstruction \r\nThe stool originally consisted of five (one rail missng) oak boards varying in thickness. Both inward-sloping side pieces (18-20mm thick) with shaped edges that are chamfered on the inside, fit into a shallow rebate in the underside the seat board, and are cut with two deep slots to receive the front and back rails. The seat board (18-20mm thick) has a moulded edge all round, and is held with 6 dowels onto the side-pieces, effectively holding all the elements of the stool in place.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"oak","id":"AAT12264"}],"techniques":[{"text":"carving","id":"AAT53149"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"oak","categories":[{"text":"Furniture","id":"THES48948"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2011ER1649","2006AY4578","2011ER1652","2011ER1651","2011ER1650","2011ER1648","2011ER1647","2017KJ7280"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"TDRC (LOAN)","id":"THES49978"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Stool","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1480-1520","earliest":"1480-01-01","latest":"1520-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by A.H.
