Pinewood frame with veneer of rosewood and oyster-cut walnut and ebony and marquetry of green coloured ivory, sycamore and other woods. Rectangular, broad, convex frame with plain bevelled edge of rosewood—veneer. The frame is decorated, against an oyster-cut walnut ground, with lobed L—shaped corner panels showing formal leafy scrollwork with carnation, tulips and other flowers in light brown, dark reddish brown and green against a black ebonized wood ground, and with two pairs of panels showing, against a similar ground, birds perched on flowering plants. A line of black beading separates the convex frame from its bevelled edge. \n\r\nThe lunette shaped cresting is missing. Veneer and marquetry superficially and frequently cracked. At the back are a pair of modern metal handles with supporting cord between them. \n\nThe reflective plate of glass (plain bevel) with mercury-tin amalgam, presumsed to be original (broken irreparably, 2024). \r\n\r\n","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"rosewood","id":"AAT12424"},{"text":"walnut","id":"AAT12476"},{"text":"ebony","id":"AAT12055"},{"text":"ivory","id":"AAT11857"},{"text":"sycamore","id":"AAT12357"},{"text":"mirror glass","id":"x32916"}],"techniques":[{"text":"marquetry","id":"AAT53853"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"wood decorated with marquetry","categories":[{"text":"Household objects","id":"THES48939"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2015HU9821","2017JV3246","2017JV0918","2015HU9822"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"SM012","id":"THES305006"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Mirror","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1675-1685","earliest":"1675-01-01","latest":"1685-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Eric M Browett","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"120","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"17/7/15","earliest":"2015-07-17","latest":"2015-07-17"},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"96.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"8.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"From dept file: H 3' 11\" W 3' D 3\"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Given by Mr Eric M Browett, 29, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
