B Tait, F.R.C.S. together with a pedigree of the chair drawn up by his grandfather.\r\nMr Berrell of Olney, Joiner, age 57, says:-\r\nGeorge Grigg, late of Olney, Butcher and Farmer, is my Maternal Grandfather. He purchased the chair at Cowper's Sale. At my Grandfather's death is came to his son, My Uncle William Grigg, and at his death to his son, my cousin Richard Grigg. Richard Grigg sold it to Mr Hurst, Upholsterer, Olney, who sold it to Mr William Harris, Sadler, Olney, in the year 1835 for 14/6 who has had it in his possession ever since - I have known it all my life as Cowper's Chair.\nJanuary 2. 1857.'\n\nThe chair was loaned by the V&amp;A to Queen Charlotte's Cottage, Kew, and returned in 2017.\n\nA grander Windsor armchair, in fruitwood and elm, but also with a full framed back and a continuous arm rail is shown in Michael Harding-Hill, <i>Windsor Chairs. An Illustrated Celebration</i> (Woodbridge, Antique Collectors' Club, 2003), p. 76. No history was noted for that chair but there are similarities with this.
