The front of cabinet has a large glazed oval cutaway in the centre, with an elaborately moulded metal frame. The whole of this oval contains a large tuning scale with a radiating metal pointer, stations are printed in black, green and red on a cream ground. The design of the scale incorporates a diagram of the world. Centrally-placed, below this scale, are three small, dark brown plastic control knobs. Attached to the top of the cabinet is a leather strap handle. Both sides of the cabinet are vented to allow emissions of sound from the loudspeaker.\r\n","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Decca Gramophone Co.","id":"AUTH337912"},"association":{"text":"manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wood","id":"AAT11914"},{"text":"metal","id":"AAT10900"},{"text":"textile","id":"x41581"}],"techniques":[{"text":"moulding","id":"AAT53134"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Metal, fabric, wood","categories":[{"text":"Product design","id":"THES49025"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":[],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES342703"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Radio","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1937","earliest":"1937-01-01","latest":"1937-12-31"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"26.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"20","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"34.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Measurements taken from paper records - not checked on object.","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased by the Circulation Department from Tudor Rees (Vintage Services), in 1977 [77/1157].
