For an example by Jacob in the V&A collections see Museum no. 1063A-1882 The proportions, however, are unlike those of a French bergère (large armchair with upholstered panels under the arms). Those are generally lower, creating an easy chair, rather than anything as upright as this chair. It is possible that this was made in the late 19th century, when French furniture of the 18th century was widely collected and reproduced. ","physicalDescription":"An armchair of carved mahogany with low, square back and turned, fluted legs, the back, arms and seat fully upholstered in a modern striped fabric. All four turned, tapering legs are fluted above ball-shaped feet with high acanthus collars, similar in form to French gilt-brass foot mounts of the period. The blocks above the legs, at seat rail height are carved with oval paterae (rosettes). The supports for the arms are a continuation of the front legs, turned in baluster form and spirally reeded. A long, concave section of each arm supports rises from the balusters, supporting a concave arm with small, upholstered arm pads. The arm supports, arsm and back frame are carved with raised edge fillets. The centre of the crest rail is carve with crossed laurels. The back is distinct from the seat, with a mahogany lower rail, creating a distinct gap between the upholstery of the seat and the back.
