These earlier Quran stands were similarly carved with intricate scrollwork patterning and Quranic inscriptions, and would have also been easily collapsible, enabling them to be transported or stored.  These similarities suggest a continuation of design and decoration within Central Asia.    ","physicalDescription":"Qur'an stand composed of two leaves hinged together, each rectangular above and shaped below into a foliated arch, containing an arabesque design in open work.
