The lid is similarly decorated with floral ornament and inscriptions in gothic characters, now much worn. With a twisted wrought iron handle on the lid, and a hasp and lock which is pierced with diaper ornament. The casket is strengthened with long iron hinges and angle pieces terminating in shells, and a curved band at each end of the lid pierced with tracery.
