The motto 'Semper Eadem' is decorated with a rose and thistle. It was inscribed 'Mary Smith, December ye 16, 1713'.\r\nAfter the Restoration, the art of rolled paper-work underwent a revival which reached its height during the first quarter of the 18th century.
