On the front is a rectangular compartment containing 2 bust with two faces, one male and one female, within a circular medallion supported by two female demi-figures, terminating in floral scrolls. Round the rectangle are two bordrs, the  inner one or flutings and the outer composed of the following:— festoons of flowers  and ornaments resembling augur’s caps, trophies of arms and bunches of fruit suspended by ribbons, and at the corners circular medallions enclosing male heads.  One end is decorated with the head of a classical warrior within a framework composed of circle, a lozenge and a rectangle, with rosettes at the four corners;  the other end is similarly ornamented with a female head. At each angle of the coffer is a baluster-shaped column enriched with leaves and flutings. The moulded  cornice and base project. The whole rests on four feet. (A. M. Roussel, ancienne collection Recappe.) Deux balustres a feuillages et a chapiteau  marquent les angles. Le panneau central, tres allonge et entouré d'un cadre a moulures, renferme  le medaillon d'un personage a double visage, sorte de Janus bifrons, vieillard d'un cote, jeune  fille de l'autre. Ce medaillon est flanque de deux figures se terminant en rinceaux a tiges tres minces et a feuillages. Auteur du panneau regne une large fries, composee de quatre medaillons relies  par des guirlandes de feuillages et d'attributs guerriers; les cotes sont a medaillons. La composition de ce beau meuble est excellente, la decoration d'un gout parfait.
