(For V & A Museum, see also F/6, F/7, F/8,F/9, J/10, L/7, M/18, M/19 and M/20)  A cross from a rood screen, with Evangelist symbols in quatrefoils at each of the four corners (Plate  180). There is an iron hook for the Crucifix at the  base of the central boss. The Cross Was originally  decorated along the edges of the shafts with leaf  crockets. These are now much damaged, and there  are many missing. There are traces of gesso to  indicate that the cross was originally polychromed.  A roughly contemporary Wooden rood cross  survives in France, at Marpent, Brittany. Of interest  in this connection is the Crucifix at the Victoria  and Albert Museum, London from the  Brabant/Hainault region of the Low Countries,  dated to c.148O (Plate 181 and Williamson 2002).'
