It was selected by Madeleine Ginsberg, curator of fashion, to become part of the collection of the museum in 1970.\n\nDouglas MacLennan (b. 1948, Gourock, Scotland) went on to have a long career in the fashion and fashion higher education world. After graduation he went on to become resident designer for two successive international textile companies in Hong Kong, one being the Standard Knitting Company in Kowloon. He became a successful teacher, lecturing at institutions from his alma mater Central Saint Martins to the Academy of Design in Sri Lanka, and acting as an external examiner for over 35 different universities and colleges. In 2004 he was awarded the 'Fashion Famous Person' award at the Shanghai International Fashion Federation Awards. He was a founder member of the British Fashion Council College Forum in 1991 and the longest serving Executive Member of the British 'Graduate Fashion Foundation' charity, for which he ultimately became Chairperson.
