It is a fine example of creative recycling by children who had no access to commercially produced toys due to impoverishment or lack of availabilty. Toys of this sort also spring from a long tradition of using natural materials to make toys, such as seed heads as rattles, for example.","physicalDescription":"Toy helicopter made from repurposed metal. It was assembled from shapes cut from a can, with the panels held together with medium weight metal wire knotted through small holes. The fuselage is rectangular with a pointed nose, sloping cockpit windows, raised engine block and rotor blades above, and a long tubular tail with a tail fin and small rotor blades. It stands on a pair of skids made from thick wire. The rotor blades do not turn.\n\nParts of the toy have been painted very dark blue to indicate the cockpit and engine; the same colour has been used on the underside of the main rotor blades, the inner side of the tail rotor blades and the outer side of the tail fin.\n\nThe can originally contained 'Sunfoil' sunflower oil and is printed in red, white and yellow with the product name and details about the oil itself.
