Worked mainly in chain stitches with coarse thread, in a well-distributed pattern of leafy formal scrolls, trees and groups of figures, its embroidery depicts two scenes iconographically linked to the subject of the Holy Hunt of the Unicorn. The composition is partially split into two scenes by a tree which is approximately placed in the middle. On the left part, a man is seen leading three horses, while on the far right is a hunter with a hare hung on a stick slung over his shoulder. He is turned forward a maiden seated with the unicorn's front hooves on her lap. \n\r\n","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"linen (material)","id":"AAT14069"}],"techniques":[{"text":"embroidering","id":"AAT53653"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Embroidered linen","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Embroidery","id":"THES48960"},{"text":"Myths & Legends","id":"THES49005"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2017KD9151","2011ET5790","2012FH8209","2012FH8210","2017KL5844","2017KD9152","2017KD9153","2017KD9154","2018KR6449"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"A","id":"THES304345"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Embroidery","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1370-1400","earliest":"1370-01-01","latest":"1400-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Width","value":"699","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"339","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"33","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":"Unmounted"}],"dimensionsNote":"Unmounted.","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased by the V&A from Canon Franz Bock, a German collector of medieval textiles.
