On the lowest of three compartments, saint Magdalen with jar of ointment. Her hair is of silver-gilt thread, surface couched with yellow and white silk. In the middle compartment, saint John the Evangelist with martyr's palm, and cup with dragon.  The top compartment is cut, only the lower body of an unidentified figure can be seen. The pairs of saints stand under ogee arches with  columns, in the spandrels there are pairs of birds with coloured  plumage.The  underside couched gold background is worked in  differing diaper patterns. Unlined, with colours very fresh on the back.
