The design shows vertical lines of bugles in gold and silver embroidered with gold and silver beads to form alternating series of diamonds. Those on the bodice have a brilliant in the centre. \r\n\r\nThe princess line dress is straight out with a round neck and short sleeves. It is lined with darker chiffon than that of the ground. It fastens at the centre back with a zip.\n\nAccording to notes at the time of acquisition, the embroidery was carried out by Stanley William Lock of 5 Vereker House, Rathbone Place, London, and took 160 hours to execute using 95,000 bugle beads. The price of the gown would have been £500 to purchase.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Ken Fleetwood","id":"A23327"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Edwin Hardy Amies","id":"A6913"},"association":{"text":"designed for","id":"x41471"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Stanley William Lock","id":"AUTH316209"},"association":{"text":"embroiderer","id":"AAT25352"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Chiffon hand beaded with gold and silver beads and brilliants","categories":[{"text":"Evening wear","id":"THES48999"},{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"},{"text":"Embroidery","id":"THES48960"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2020MU3351"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"011","id":"THES305911"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Dress","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1972-1973","earliest":"1972-01-01","latest":"1973-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Hardy Amies","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'Lehar'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Label, written in ink, stitched at the neck.
