The snug fitting cloche hat was the prevalent style of hat during the 1920s and was symbiotic with the trend for short, cropped hair which pervaded the decade. This hat was made by a French milliner Marie Rebouch who was well established by this date. In 1908 Rebouch was registered at 40 Chaussee d’Antin Paris. The Gallery of Costume at Platt Hall, Manchester has an example of a Rebouch hat dated c.1910.
