Her youthful easy-to-wear clothing became so popular that in 1963,  she launched a lower-priced  ready-to-wear range called  'Ginger Group'. She also entered  into licensing agreements with  manufacturers to produce hosiery, underwear, cosmetics and  accessories bearing her name.  Almost anyone, whatever their income, could spare the money to buy a pair of 'Mary Quant'  stockings or a lipstick. This enabled girls who could not  otherwise afford her clothing to  feel in touch with fashion, and made Mary Quant a household name and a commercial success.\r\n\nHer contribution to British life was  marked by a retrospective exhibition at the London Museum  in 1973. The exhibition included many of Quant's most  revolutionary garments, some  remade as facsimiles if original ones could not be found.","physicalDescription":"Jacket and skirt of printed cotton.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Quant, Mary","id":"A2349"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Ginger Group","id":"AUTH347156"},"association":{"text":"designed for","id":"x41471"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"cotton (textile)","id":"AAT14067"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Printed cotton","categories":[{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"},{"text":"Europeana Fashion Project","id":"THES265804"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2018KP4760","2018KP4753","2018KP4761","2018KP4764","2018KR3448","2018KR3449","2018KR3450","2018KR3451","2017KL1864","2017KL1863","2017KL1865","2012FV1592"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"016","id":"THES307884"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"016","id":"THES307884"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Jacket","id":""}],[{"text":"Skirt","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1967-70","earliest":"1967-01-01","latest":"1970-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Mrs Wolf-Patrick","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Registered File number 1993/1508.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"'Ginger Group' jacket and skirt, printed cotton, by Mary Quant, Great Britain,, 1967-70","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["T.498-1993","T.499-1993"],"accessionNumberNum":"498","accessionNumberPrefix":"T","accessionYear":1993,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE","Jacket","Skirt"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-07-24","recordCreationDate":"2009-06-24","availableToBook":true}}
