He studied drawing at Budapest from the age of 14. There he also started working in silverware. Back in Vienna he worked with bronze and silver manufacturers Dziedzinski & Hanusch and Klinkosch. He then studied at study at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna under the sculptor Otto König (1838–1920).
