Nollekens is known to have made two busts of the famous statesman during his lifetime, both of which were exhibited at the Royal Academy, one with a wig in 1791 and a second one in 1802. Many replicas of both busts were made, and other versions are recorded at Holland House, Carlton House and Shugborough Hall.","physicalDescription":"Bust in marble. The subject is represented looking half right. His hair is cut short. Shoulders and breast are draped in the classical manner. The edge of a pleated garment shows beneath the throat. Incised on the back 'J.NOLLEKENS, R.A. SCULP.'
