It has been suggested that the trimming of the beard and moustache point to a date of around 1530. The sitter has not been identified.","physicalDescription":"This bust in terracotta is cut off through the elbows and below the chest and is not finished off behind. It shows a thin-faced man in early middle age, with a moustache and beard, represented frontally. On hi head he wears a flat cap, apparently of an academic character, and on his shoulders he has a cloak tied with a small bow at the throat and opening to reveal the arms of a tunic beneath. Hollowed out at the back.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"terracotta","id":"AAT10669"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Terracotta","categories":[{"text":"Portraits","id":"THES48906"},{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2017KC9715"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES383967"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"TCRPS (VA)","id":"THES49504"},"free":"","case":"C1","shelf":"1","box":"2"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Bust","id":""}],[{"text":"Fragments","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Florence","id":"x28848"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1530","earliest":"1525-01-01","latest":"1534-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"57.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"48.42","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased from the Gigli-Campagna Collection, £25.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Bust, terracotta, portrait of a young man, a member of the Capponi family, Italy, Florence, ca. 1530","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Inventory of Art Objects Acquired in the Year 1861. <u>In</u>: <u>Inventory of the Objects in the Art Division of the Museum at South Kensington, Arranged According to the Dates of their Acquisition.
