It was originally part of a fine service decorated with Italian views and a distincive border of blue and gilded cornflowers. The ceramics historian Angela- Caròla Perrotti has identified it in the factory records as the service acquired by the new King of Naples, Joseph Bonaparte, for his royal palace of Caserta in 1807.","physicalDescription":"Dish of soft-paste porcelain painted with enamels and gilded. For another plate from this service dated c. 1792-1795, see catalogue entry 121, 249p by Angela Caròla-Perrotti. \r\n'The plate belongs to the service known as the Fleur-de-lys service made in 1792- 1795...It is probable that the service, made at the same time as the <i>Servizio dell'Oca,</i> also decorated with views of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, can be identified with the service '<i>a vedute fiori e or</i>' (with views, flowers and gold) chosen by Giuseppe Bonaparte (1768-1844) in 1807 for the Palace at Caserta. The decoration accords perfectly with the enthusiasm for views at the time.
