He trained as a graphic designer but set up his own lighting design consultancy in 1966. 'Bibibibi' was designed in 1982 as a witty comment on the seriousness of contemporary design. \r\n\r\nThe lamp is in the form of a standing bird, the shaded light acting as its body. The natural quality of the feathers, a popular ingredient in Post-Modern design, contrasts with the technical precision of the lamp. Maurer once described the lightbulb as 'the perfect meeting of industry and poetry'. 'Bibibibi' brings a playful and poetic sensibility to a practical everyday object.","physicalDescription":"The base is a circular, white ceramic plate raised from beneath by two concentric rims; the upper surface flat. At one side are two supports for the lamp made of moulded plastic; coloured bright red and in the form of chicken legs. At the top of the stand, a conventional plastic screw socket holds a bulb covered by a cone-shaped shade.
