Most of the figures are in raised work with lace collars and cuffs and garments of applied fabric or detached needlepoint.\n\nThe frame is embroidered with five scenes from the Birth of Christ: 'The Annunciation' on either side of the mirror; 'The Angel appearing to the Shepherds' in the top left hand corner with an angel carrying a scroll inscribed 'CHRISTUS NATUS EST' and a lamb bearing another scroll inscribed 'BETHLEHM'; 'The Visitation of the Shepherds' on the top right hand corner; 'The Adoration of the Magi' in the top centre; and the 'The Flight into Egypt' in the bottom centre.
