Before upholstered furniture came into use in the sevententh century, cushions were placed on chairs, stools and window-seats, to provide warmth and comfort.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wool","id":"x40131"},{"text":"silk","id":"x30127"},{"text":"metal thread","id":"x30421"}],"techniques":[{"text":"tapestry","id":"AAT61981"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Tapestry-woven in wool, silk and metal thread","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Tapestry","id":"THES48887"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2012FU0419","2011EY9827","2017KC2956"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"009","id":"THES309759"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Cushion cover","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Flanders","id":"x36939"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1570-1630","earliest":"1570-01-01","latest":"1630-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"T.181-1925","id":"O248232"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"T.182-1925","id":"O317951"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"T.185-1925","id":"O317949"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"Purchased under the bequest of Captain H.B.
