With a red leather flap in the lid. Inside are two small decorative folders wrapped in paper with a Chinese stamp, and a paper full of carmine-coloured powder. \r\n\r\nAt the back of the box is a lift-out tray containing slabs of paint, mostly unused. Strips of paper pasted on the divisions between the shallow paint trays indicate that the colours' names. The majority of the paint slabs have on the top in relief a coat of arms beneath a crest of a greyhound, and the name of the colour.  A slab of different shape has on the observe only the greyhound crest.\r\n\r\nThe compartment contains five small bowls for mixing colours, a small marble slab, a little bone palette and bone brush rest, a pair of dividers, a pair of pincers with a miniature clamp, a bottle, and five little phials wrapped in cotton wool, with the Prince of Wales' crest in sealing wax on the corks.\r\n\r\nIn the centre of the box is a very heavy stone mixing tray. To the left in a small compartment is a long block of colour with Chinese characters. To the right is a china bowl for water, fitted with a glass top.
