The ground is woven from a bright green floss silk warp and dull green tussah silk weft giving a 'watered' or 'shot' effect. The edges of the cloth are pulled into a fancy drawn hem 1 inch (2.5 cms) in from the outside edge. The decorative embroidered pattern starts in the bottom left hand corner and shows a fan of highly stylised prongs with circular heads of abstract design. The embroidery is worked in green silk in satin with areas highlighted in Japanese gold thread.
