In the centre, the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom surrounded by the Garter with motto: 'HO[NI] SOIT. [QUI]. MAL-Y-PENSE' and 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' on a riband, and surmounted by a helmet and mantling above which is a crown and lion. Below is a bull's head transfixed by a spear, upon a wreath in a circular compartment formed by a strap on which are the words 'VIA VI'. Under this are a thistle and three ribands inscribed: 'HAYTER & HOWELL', 'LONDON' and 'BEST MEDIUM CLOTH'.
