However, despite these parallels, both the eclecticism and clumsy style of carving of this piece suggest that it is in fact a nineteenth-century confection, made in Italy, or perhaps Spain. \n\n","physicalDescription":"The Virgin, wearing a veil, is seated with Infant Christ on her lap, who clasps an orb in his left hand and is extending his right towards the young St. John.
