Although the drapery of this piece can be compared with that of the figure of St Lawrence in the corpus of the altarpiece in the chapel of St Anna in Schwendi near Biberach, which is related to the workshop of Niclaus Weckmann, the proportions, and in particular, the elongation of the figure and the facial type, suggest a date in the second half of the 19th century. It was probably made by a carver familiar with the style prevalent in Ulm in about 1500, and may have been intended for a neo-Gothic altarpiece.","physicalDescription":"Limewood statue of St. Lawrence.
