It shows the proposed design for the interior of the Hall which was intended as an exhibition venue. Cutting away roofs or walls is a technique often used to show the relationship of interior schemes.","physicalDescription":"Model, cardboard, wood and plaster. The model shoes the proposed designs for the interior of the Hall of Arts and Sciences (Royal Albert Hall). Oval in shape it is in two parts with the roof cut away from one half revealing the interior details. In the centre there is an oval arena surrounded by tiers representing raked seats, a double row of boxes and an arched gallery. Above this the roof curves inwards and there are 'stained glass' windows (in watercolour) which portray chivalric figures and crests. The interior is painted in yellow, black, brown and white.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Fowke, Francis (Captain)","id":"A34042"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"cardboard","id":"AAT14224"},{"text":"wood","id":"AAT11914"},{"text":"plaster","id":"AAT14922"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Cardboard, wood, plaster, paper, painted","categories":[{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"},{"text":"Architectural models","id":"THES274433"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AK7838","2006AK7837"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"SR003","id":"THES385145"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Architectural model","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1864","earliest":"1864-01-01","latest":"1864-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"34","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"73","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"57","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Possibly made in the museum by members of the Corps of Royal engineers.
